I agree, the leave a tip question when you use a charge card is obnoxious... i wont go back...
when i hit no, the cashier gave me a miserable look, be real, i paid $10 for a turkey and cheese... enough is enough, jersey mike, pay your employees, and ill pay for my food...
As a General Manager for JM, we do pay our employees. My franchise specifically pays our employees higher than corporate stores pay theirs.
We start at ABOVE minimum wage, just for your first 90 days and a raise after that. The tip option is available based on each Franchisee, not the General Managers or the employees. We do not control this option. However, there IS an option for "No Thanks" in the bottom right corner of the screen with a big GREEN button surrounding it.
Tips are 100% optional and do not impact us either way. Of course, for great service, they are appreciated, but NEVER asked for directly. My staff and my entire franchise is instructed during training to not even acknowledge the tips. We do not want to offend or single anybody out for not tipping.
Even if they do tip, we can't acknowledge it, in case it offends a customer that is still in line.
With that said, We do pay out employees above minimum wage. Tips are not necessary, but they are greatly appreciated. For some of us, it is at least a little extra for gas money to help through the week.
Fresh food, great quality and great customer service from my franchise locations. Do you get that from a kitchen worker at Burger King that you never see?
